DOE opens summer 2027 laboratory internship applications
DOE lists a January 6 deadline for its stipend-based undergraduate and community-college internships, with application workshops in November.
What the record says
The Department of Energy announced October 14 that applications are open for summer 2027 Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships and Community College Internships at national laboratories. DOE says SULI serves full-time students at four-year institutions and community colleges, plus graduates within two years of an associate or bachelor's degree. CCI includes community-college students enrolled part-time. Both programs offer stipends. The stated deadline is January 6, 2027, at 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. DOE also lists November 4 and 5 application workshops and a November 12 virtual internship fair.

Practical next step
Review the official SULI or CCI program's complete eligibility and application requirements, and submit through its official process before the deadline.
Limits and what is not established
The announcement does not guarantee selection or establish that every student qualifies. DOE describes domestic round-trip travel and lodging assistance for participants outside the commuting area; this does not establish that every personal expense is covered.
